Summer Ends and Fall Begins

Trees with some yellow leaves

The signs of summer ending have begun. Fall is a week away, officially starting on September 23rd. Today I was doing my weekly lawn maintenance; edging, trimming, and mowing. It was a beautiful day. As I looked around I could see the signs of summer ending and fall beginning. I did my best with my very amateur photography skills to capture what I saw. Nature gave me so much inspiration. Leaves have started to turn color (in photo above) and are falling from the trees. It only took a few moments before they were scattered about my freshly mowed lawn.

Leaves are not the only thing falling from the trees. There are also acorns.

My chrysanthemums are full of buds ready to pop. Mums are such pretty fall flowers and liven the landscape when many other plants are going dormant.

The leaves are falling from my contorted filbert and the beauty of the twisted branches are showing through.

Holly bushes are filled with green berries that will soon turn to a beautiful bright red.

I gathered some of the leaves and acorns and filled a bowl with them. It is something I will keep on my kitchen counter for a while to remind me of this beautiful day. What do you do to capture a beautiful day? Do you bring a little outside indoors?

lovely pictures, renee. it's definitely turning fall-ish here, too. i love photographing our yard + garden as often as possible + yes, frequently bring the outdoors inside. one of my favorite things to do is to make a bouquet of herbs - rosemary + lavender, for example - in a small vase, rather than a bouquet of flowers. it has a neat, rustic look + is wonderfully fragrant. + it comes right from our own yard!

Great idea Amy! I have rosemary, lavender, and a few other herbs. Time to get out the snips...
